New washing machine: your turn

A Spanish designer has come up with a new type of washing machine called “your turn”. Fingerprint recognition prohibits a person to use it twice (or more) in a row, which explains it’s name. Needless to say this invention should stimulate men to take a share in the household. The inventor, Pep Torres, was approached by a Spanish white goods manufacturer to come up with an innovative Father’s Day gift. I’d say it is a Lees meer…

From radio to podcast, to radio again

When I explain about podcasting – and it still needs a lot of explaining – I tell people that a podcast can have generally two sources. One is the amateur (who can be a professional by the way) who records audio himself. The other source can be an existing radio station that offers some or all broadcasts as mp3 archives, so people can listen to them later. (An example in The Netherlands is BNN.) But Lees meer…

Snooker time

Actually, snooker time is almost over, since it’s already time for the final at the Crucible in Sheffield. If this makes no sense to you, you’re definitely not a snooker fan (and you can stop reading). I’ve been to the Crucible twice, to be honest. Well, it looks like Jimmy White – he’s many people’s all time favorite – is slowly getting out of the picture, although still fighting to keep his rank up; he Lees meer…

Back from Paris

More than 20 speakers, more than 200 vistors and a great venue; Les Blogs in Paris. Since about 75% of the people were carrying a notebook (mostly Apple by the way), enough stories will be written about the event. Find them using Technorati with tag ‘les blogs’. Also a lot of pictures were made. They’re easy to find using Flickr with tag ‘les blogs’. (Of course Guido made nice BW’s) Technorati: les blogs

The next blog event: Les Blogs

We’re going to Paris for Les Blogs, organised bij Loic le Meur. Guido and I will visit the conference about blogging and social networks, together with over 250 other participants from about 20 countries. The Netherlands are well represented with 22 people. We’ll be dining in Paris tonight with 12 Dutch bloggers. Right now I’m getting packed and gathering the essential travel equipment. Update: I noticed Flickr has a tag whatsinyourbag. I reckon above picture Lees meer…

Blognomics – the day after

The Blognomics event was great, with nearly a hundred people visiting. Presentations, blog posts about the event, pictures, podcasts, videos and so on can be found at blognomics.nl. By the way, it was a very funny experience to finally meet people in person that you know by url or email, like r-win, Frank, Nevon, Ton, etc.

Physical blogosphere

The internet makes physical distance irrelevant. Well, that could be one of the advantages in a lot of cases. On the other hand, someone you know from the internet could perfectly well be your neighbor. Or at least live in your neighborhood. I just discoverd feedmap, a service that uses RSS feeds to map blogs to a location. Nice to see what bloggers are nearby. You can also browse blogs by location. Check it out Lees meer…

Podcasting explained

This post is actually for a Dutch audience only. A few days ago Dutch TV program 2Vandaag had an item about podcasting. Nice to view for people that have heard of it but don’t have a clue what podcasting actually is. There are some Dutch podcasters in it and of course Adam Curry, speaking Dutch by the way. Watch it here. (Funny thing is that listener of Curry’s podcast The Daily Source Code had already Lees meer…

Podcast – godcast

One of the podcasts that I regurly listen to is the one from the Catholic Insider. I’m not that religious myself, but I reckon it’s very much worth listening to anyway. I admire the way Fr. Rotherick uses new media like podcasting to ‘broadcast’ his message. Since it’s a religious podcast it might be called a godcast. Inspired by Adam Curry’s idea of podshow.com, Fr. Roderick has setup godshow.com. The idea is to help people Lees meer…
