Social networks and the networked society

29/04/2005

Yesterday I was invited to the first meeting of the Digikring groot Amsterdam. Nice evening with presentations and good discussions. I told a story about blogs, podcasting and the ego caster concept, partly based on the presentations at Blognomics. You can view the slides here.

I’m explaining the long tail here.

Back from Paris

26/04/2005

More than 20 speakers, more than 200 vistors and a great venue; Les Blogs in Paris. Since about 75% of the people were carrying a notebook (mostly Apple by the way), enough stories will be written about the event. Find them using Technorati with tag ‘les blogs’. Also a lot of pictures were made. They’re […]

The next blog event: Les Blogs

24/04/2005

We’re going to Paris for Les Blogs, organised bij Loic le Meur. Guido and I will visit the conference about blogging and social networks, together with over 250 other participants from about 20 countries. The Netherlands are well represented with 22 people. We’ll be dining in Paris tonight with 12 Dutch bloggers.
Right now I’m […]

Blognomics - the day after

22/04/2005

The Blognomics event was great, with nearly a hundred people visiting. Presentations, blog posts about the event, pictures, podcasts, videos and so on can be found at blognomics.nl.
By the way, it was a very funny experience to finally meet people in person that you know by url or email, like r-win, Frank, Nevon, Ton, etc.

Blog questions answered tomorrow

20/04/2005

I’m sure this question will be covered in depth tomorrow at Blognomics.

The ICT Networking Event

19/04/2005

Today a paid a short visit to the TINE. Mainly to investigate for the day after tomorrow, when our blog event Blognomics will be held.
I also took a short walk through one of the three halls and made a short photo impression.

Physical blogosphere

13/04/2005

The internet makes physical distance irrelevant. Well, that could be one of the advantages in a lot of cases. On the other hand, someone you know from the internet could perfectly well be your neighbor. Or at least live in your neighborhood. I just discoverd feedmap, a service that uses RSS feeds to map blogs […]

Big Brother and the Matrix

10/04/2005

More and more people are getting worried about their privacy. The American Civil Liberties Union has made a great video of what could happen if a Big Brother or Matrix scenario will come true. It’s funny but scary at the same time. Watch it.

Podcasting explained

03/04/2005

This post is actually for a Dutch audience only. A few days ago Dutch TV program 2Vandaag had an item about podcasting. Nice to view for people that have heard of it but don’t have a clue what podcasting actually is. There are some Dutch podcasters in it and of course Adam Curry, speaking Dutch […]

Podcast - godcast

01/04/2005

One of the podcasts that I regurly listen to is the one from the Catholic Insider. I’m not that religious myself, but I reckon it’s very much worth listening to anyway. I admire the way Fr. Rotherick uses new media like podcasting to ‘broadcast’ his message. Since it’s a religious podcast it might be called […]
